Yukimi Nagano

“When I step onto the stage, I imagine my energy expanding, stretching out like a horizon so that I can reach and move everyone.”

After nearly thirty years as the lead singer of the Gothenburg-based band Little Dragon, Yukimi Nagano made her solo debut in the spring of 2025 with the album For You. As with Little Dragon’s multifaceted sound, her music moves freely across influences and genres. R&B, soul, electronica, jazz, funk, and pop intertwine in a highly personal musical language, where technical mastery never overshadows playfulness or surprise.

Motivation:

For nearly three decades, Yukimi Nagano’s soulful voice has defined Little Dragon’s eclectic blend of alternative R&B, electronica, and indie pop, characterised by distinctive and personal compositions.

Following extensive international tours, collaborations, and acclaimed albums with the band, Yukimi launched her solo career in 2025 with live performances and the release of For You, praised by critics and audiences in Sweden and abroad. Here, a more personal Yukimi emerges, capturing everyday realities and visions with her signature musical finesse.

For her curiosity, artistic courage, and multidimensional openness to sound and expression, qualities that both mirror and transcend our time, Yukimi Nagano is awarded the 2025 Scholarship from the Sten A Olsson Foundation for Research and Culture.
