Hannes Öberg

“Telling stories in such a way that people are moved by the destiny of the characters has always been the most important thing to me.”
Hannes Öberg, a baritone, has been a member of the Göteborg Opera soloist ensemble since 2021. He made his opera debut while he was still in training and has devoted himself to opera roles and chamber music performances ever since. Both as an actor and as a singer, his powerful and vital stage presence makes him stand out – past experience of the LARP scene and as a fire performer taught him to connect and communicate with audiences.
Motivation:
Hannes Öberg has, right from the start of his career, made quite an impression on the world of opera with his distinctive and appealing baritone.
At the Göteborg Opera, where he is a member of the soloist ensemble, his vital interpretations and versatility has been impressive. He has sung the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, as well as Momus in the production of Rameau’s baroque opera Platée, and Boatsman in Gösta Nystroem’s Sir Arne’s Treasure. In addition to opera, Hannes Öberg has a passion for Romances, with a soft spot for Schubert’s lieder.
For his explorative versatility on stage and in music, his warm and supple baritone, and his intelligent role interpretations, Hannes Öberg is awarded the 2024 Culture Scholarship by the Sten A Olsson Foundation for Research and Culture.
