Financial contributions and donations
The foundation’s contributions and support are divided between the research and the cultural areas. Since the foundation aims to be beneficial to society at large, the cultural contributions are, because of Swedish legislation, in the form of educational and teaching awards or donations.
The board has established the following directions as a guide for individuals and organizations who want to apply for funding from the research and the cultural areas.
The research area
The foundation’s limited resources will, during the period from 2008 to 2013, first and foremost be awarded to research projects within the following prioritized areas:
a) Projects within “Culture and Health”, especially projects aiming to use a cross disciplinary research strategy.
b) Projects in the area of entrepreneurship and commercialization of scientific results.
c) Projects aiming to increase the quality of artistic and humanistic research and education, especially financial aid for visiting professors within art and humanistic faculties.
The cultural area
a) Awards for education and teaching within the cultural area, the so called Stena Award, will be granted to artists and cultural workers in the Gothenburg region and the western parts of Sweden.
Please be aware that this award cannot be applied for; rather candidates are selected by a search process in which the foundation’s advisory board as well as external advisors are involved.
b) Support and financial aid to community culture projects in the form of targeted funding, mainly for education and teaching in the cultural area.
